Gallbladder Surgery

What does my gallbladder do?

The gallbladder is a sac like organ that lies next to your liver and stores bile. Bile is produced by the liver and helps digest the fats that you eat including vitamins that are dissolved in the fats. When sludge or stones build up in your gallbladder, this can cause pain as it prevents it from emptying and can progress to infection.

What gallbladder related problems do you treat?

Common gallbladder related pathology are

  • Gallstones

  • Polyps

  • Poor emptying (Biliary Dyskinesia)

What can i expect after gallbladder surgery?

The majority of surgery is done through a keyhole minimally invasive operation. This allows you to recover in the fastest way possible. Typically patients go home the following day and can return to work within a week from surgery.
